QUICK DESSERTS WITH SANIBEL STYLE
Of course Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Chunk Sanibel cookies are great right out of the bag, but they also make an easy after-school snack or an elegant finale to a special dinner. Try these delicious dessert ideas – no culinary skills required!
Sanibel Shortcakes: Place one Chocolate Chunk Sanibel cookie in a shallow dessert bowl. Spoon sliced strawberries or other fruit in season over cookie. Top with whipped cream and another Sanibel cookie.
Cookie Sandwiches: Young and old alike will like a bite of these delicious cookie sandwiches. Soften a container of your favorite flavor ice cream. Place a length of plastic wrap on the counter. Place one Sanibel cookie, bottom side up, on plastic wrap. Spread a thick layer of ice cream on top of cookie, then top with another cookie. Wrap in plastic and place in the freezer to harden.
Simply Sorbet: Scoop mango or orange sorbet onto clean shells. (Shells suitable for food are available at craft stores and foodservice supply stores.) Drizzle with an easy dessert sauce (just melt ½ cup strawberry jam, then stir in 1 tablespoon dark rum). Serve 1 or 2 Chocolate Chunk Sanibel cookies on the side.
How Dulce It Is: Dulce de Leche, a sweet made with caramelized milk, is a popular dessert in Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands. It’s also one of the best-selling new ice cream flavors. Using a melon-baller or other small ice cream scoop, place several scoops of Dulce de Leche ice cream into fancy stemmed crystal glasses. Drizzle coffee-flavored liqueur over ice cream and top with a Chocolate Chunk Sanibel cookie.
